A workshop on impact assessment of Cash Based Transfer Programs

On Thursday 24 May 2018 KUNO, Humanity X and DRA organized a half-day workshop on the impact assessment and monitoring of Cash Based Programs. Many humanitarian organizations working with Cash Transfer Programs (CTPs), struggle with how to clarify or assess their impact. The working session dealt with the evaluation design of CTPs and presented best practices.

The working session is relevant for humanitarian professionals working with CBTPs, both program officers, and monitoring & evaluation officers. The program offered insights on the perceptions of beneficiaries on CTBPs and offered tools that could assess the impact of CTBPs.

Introductions

Marrit van den Berg (Wageningen University): Evaluation design: the importance and difficulties of a good survey & the added value of CBTPs.
Elias Sagmeister (Ground Truth Solutions): Collecting data on perceptions of cash recipients, based on experiences with CBTP-research in Turkey, Afghanistan and Kenya.
Thomas Baar (Humanity X, Leiden University): Lessons learned from CBTP-evaluations in Lebanon (WFP) – using data to analyze digital cash programs.
