Humanitarian Engineering supports disaster response and sustainable development in resource-limited or crisis-affected regions by integrating technical and social knowledge. It brings together students, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, industry representatives, and community organisations to explore how engineering can contribute to a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable world.
The masterclass highlights innovative projects, research initiatives, and real-world applications that address societal challenges such as poverty, climate change, access to essential services, disaster resilience, and sustainable livelihoods.
Through a small lecture pitch, a panel discussion, a workshop with interactive demonstrations and a few student presentations participants engage with the principles and practices of humanitarian engineering, learning how technology can be developed in partnership with communities to create meaningful and lasting impact.
The masterclass serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and inspiration, encouraging practitioners and engineers to use their expertise to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and contribute to positive social change worldwide.
