Humanitarian Observatories

KUNO hosts The Humanitarian Observatory in the Netherlands. The Humanitarian Observatory forms part of a wider network of Observatories established in collaboration with The Hague Humanitarian Studies Centre.

About The Humanitarian Observatories

Humanitarian Observatories are organised spaces where participants, representing multiple actors, discuss a variety of topics in relation to humanitarian governance. Actors can include, for example, national aid providers, civil society actors, research institutions, independent researchers, academics, think tanks and government representatives. These networks of actors observe trends and processes in humanitarian governance and propose changes when needed.

The Humanitarian Observatories are part of the ‘Humanitarian Observatories: Building a Knowledge and Advocacy Network on Humanitarian Governance’ project from February 2025-July 2026. This project has received funding from the European Union under the Horizon ERC Proof of Concept.
