UNICEF calls on all partners to join hands for the children of Sudan.
The conflict in Sudan today is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis – a living nightmare for children. Please join us for a briefing with Sheldon Jett, UNICEF representative in Sudan, to discuss the impact on children and UNICEF’s response.
Deprived of their fundamental rights to survive, grow, and thrive, Sudan’s children face an increasingly uncertain future. The number of children in need of assistance has surged by more than 20 per cent since last year as violence, displacement, and deprivation escalate. Today, more than 15 million children need support. Hunger and disease are rising sharply, and over 3 million children under the age of five are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition in 2025. Over 8 million school-aged children remain out of school.
UNICEF is responding through a three-pronged approach: (1) Delivering life-saving supplies and services in conflict hotspots; (2) Providing urgent support to internally displaced and host communities; (3) Preserving community resilience, and essential service delivery across the country.
