As Oxfam advisor on Local Humanitarian Leadership (LHL) in a multi-year, multi-country programme, I aspire to contribute to a humanitarian system that is more equitable and locally led. As part of this, I accompany and advise Oxfam colleagues as well as local and national partner organisations across 7 countries, including for example South Sudan, Myanmar, and Yemen. In previous roles, I have led on programme and partnership work at country level through secondments to Oxfam’s regional Ukraine response and Oxfam’s Syria country programme. I’m also involved in various humanitarian consortia – such as Giro555/Samenwerkende Hulporganisaties (SHO), KUNO, and the Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA), of which I co-chaired the Localisation Working Group from 2020 to 2024.

With an academic background in Cultural Anthropology, I am particularly interested in how humanitarian organisations can continuously improve quality and increase impact for crisis-affected populations based on past learnings. In doing so, I enjoy working with, and learning from, colleagues at different locations globally, (local) partners and other stakeholders.
